Named after the river from which it receives water to wash coffee, the Ichamama factory boasts a staggering 15,000 members in its co-op. This particular coffee, an AA screen size mix of SL-28, SL-34, and Ruiru varietals is a berry bomb any Kenyan coffee fan would love. Roasted to a lighter level and brewed to exact specifications, we have found an incredible collection of aromatics and flavors. It's easy to wander into the scent of stone fruits and peachy syrupy goodness and stay for the overwhelming sweetness. Breaking the crust, one can't help but pick up flavors of pineapple and orange. As the coffee cools and we dive into our second and third slurps, we find more surprises, from cherries and raspberries to the citric and sweet flavors of blood orange and passion fruit. We don't have this much to say about every coffee, but when the coffee is deserving, we don't hold back. This particular coffee is a 50lb bag from Coffee Shrub, and if our sample roasts are any indication of the true potential of this coffee, don't expect it to stay on our shelves long.
